Monstera adansonii, often called Swiss Cheese Vine, brings playful texture to your indoor collection. Its pointed green leaves develop distinctive oval openings, giving the foliage an airy, lacy look as light filters through. Slender vining stems make it easy to enjoy as a trailing plant or guide upward on a support.

Start it on a bright tabletop, then let its vines spill from a shelf as it grows. Prefer a taller display? Add a moss pole or trellis and gently train the stems upward. Watching each new leaf unfurl makes this an especially rewarding plant to grow over time.

• Available Size: 6-inch nursery pot.
• Light: Bright, indirect light encourages healthy growth. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
• Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of potting mix to dry before watering thoroughly. Let excess water drain, and avoid leaving the pot standing in water or allowing the root ball to remain completely dry for long periods.
• Soil: Use an airy, well-draining houseplant mix with bark or perlite in a container with drainage holes.
• Humidity: Appreciates moderate to higher humidity and good airflow. Keep away from drying vents.
• Temperature: Prefers warm indoor conditions. Protect from cold drafts.
• Feeding: Apply a balanced houseplant fertilizer during active spring and summer growth, following the label directions.
• Growth Habit: A trailing or climbing vine. Provide support for upward growth, or prune above a node to encourage branching and manage length.
• Leaf Character: Natural openings, called fenestrations, vary with leaf maturity and growing conditions. Growth rate, leaf size, and eventual vine length depend on light, support, and care.
• Pet Caution: Contains insoluble calcium oxalates and is toxic if chewed or eaten. Keep away from pets and children.
