Aster ‘Wood’s Light Blue’ adds a cool wash of lavender-blue to the garden just as summer begins to fade. Small daisy-like flowers with golden-yellow centers cover a compact mound of narrow green foliage, bringing fresh color to sunny borders and garden paths. Pair it with golden fall flowers or soft ornamental grasses to let its delicate blue-purple blooms stand out.
Commonly offered as a cultivar of North American native bushy aster (Aster dumosus, now Symphyotrichum dumosum), rather than the straight wild species.
- Mature Size: Approximately 8–12 inches tall and 12–18 inches wide
- Light: Full sun; tolerates partial shade
- Bloom Time: Late summer into fall, typically August–October depending on conditions
- Flowers: Light lavender-blue daisies with yellow centers
- Growth Habit: Compact, bushy, clump-forming herbaceous perennial
- Available Size: 1 Gallon
Plant in well-drained soil and water regularly while roots become established. Give plants space for airflow and keep the soil evenly moist without leaving it waterlogged. Its low-growing habit makes it a lovely choice for the front of a perennial border.
